Volunteer Day
Prayers for World Peace & Centre Cherishing mornings
One Saturday a month
“We should know that learning to cherish others is the best method for establishing world peace in general, and for our own peace of mind in particular. ”
- Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
What happens on ‘Prayers for World Peace’ & Centre Cherishing Mornings?
Prayers for World Peace
Creating good karma depends on first setting a pure motivation, so we start our day at 10am with ‘Prayers for World Peace’. This includes a teaching followed by a short but powerful prayer for increasing good karma and compassion. The prayer includes time for meditation.
Centre Cherishing
Then from 11am we spend time putting our compassionate intention into practice by making Jangchub Ling clean, tidy, safe and beautiful for everyone. We finish at 1pm and enjoy each others’ company along with a light lunch. Centre cherishing is a powerful way to gain experience of transforming daily activities into the spiritual path through remaining mindful of a special, compassionate motivation.
People of all abilities are welcome. If you have DIY skills please let us know beforehand so we can be prepared.
We would love to welcome you along for any part of the day, just come when you can.
Upcoming dates:
Saturday, 14th June 10am - 1pm
Saturday, 19th July 10am - 1pm
See below for a special centre cherishing day in August
Saturday, 23rd August 10am - 4pm
Why do people feel happy and cared for when they come to Jangchub Ling Centre? It’s because that consideration for them is visible in the way Jangchub Ling is cared for. On this special centre cherishing day we will come together with a common goal of cherishing others, and by the end of the day we will share a sense of accomplishment at having done exactly that, as demonstrated by a sparkling Centre!
After lunch, before we pick up our tools again, we will take the time to ask the question, ‘What does the future hold for Jangchub Ling?’ Some of the ideas and possibilities that are being considered will be shared as we explore together how Jangchub Ling Centre can be best placed to serve as many people as possible.
We hope you can join us for this enlivening day!
