ABOUT THIS COURSE:

A simple meditation course to help you put your stresses and worries to one side so you can do that all important thing
- enjoy your holidays! Whether you’re off for a fortnight in Barbados, or just need help relaxing so you can enjoy the five minutes you get to yourself when the kids have gone to bed - this course is for you.

  • Our half day courses are suitable for beginners and those with more experience of meditation. There are two 75min sessions, each including a short, optional prayer, a teaching, and two guided meditations. There is a half hour break inbetween sessions with complimentary refreshments in our cafe and lunch afterwards for those who’d like to join us. PLEASE NOTE: Lunch must be booked at least three days in advance of the course.

  • Our Urban Retreats are suitable for beginners and those with more experience of meditation. There are four 60min sessions, each including a short, optional prayer, a teaching, and two guided meditations. Urban Retreats differ from Half Day Courses with a stronger emphasis on the meditations. There is a half hour break in between morning and afternoon sessions with complimentary refreshments in our cafe. PLEASE NOTE: Lunch is also available but must be booked at least three days in advance.

  • Formal Retreats are traditional Kadampa Buddhist practices where we use our refuge in Buddha to create good conditions in our mind for spiritual progress. Sessions include a combination of prayer and meditation. There are a wide variety of different formal retreats and mostly they not guided by a teacher. Unguided retreats will be free of charge, although donations towards costs are encouraged. Everyone is welcome at these retreats. PLEASE NOTE: Lunch is not provided.

  • We are a registered charity run entirely by volunteers, no-one receives a salary. The funds we receive are used to pay for our operating expenses in continuing our work of helping others.

  • At the moment courses are not online, but we hope to provide this in the future.

  • No. People from all backgrounds attend JLC to find peace according to their own individual needs and wishes. Everybody is welcome.

  • To be sure of your place we recommend pre-booking, though we can usually accommodate people on the day. PLEASE NOTE: If you are joining us for lunch this will need to be booked at least three days in advance.

  • No special clothing is needed. Our courses and retreats do not include any physical exercise and most people choose to sit on chairs, although courses held at JLC do have cushions available for sitting on the floor if you prefer.
