About this course
When life becomes uncertain or stressful, where do you turn for protection and support? Many people look for security in external circumstances, yet these are unreliable and constantly changing.
Buddhist teachings explain that real protection comes from developing a peaceful and wise mind, guided by reliable sources of wisdom and support. In Buddhism these are known as the Three Jewels: Buddha, who shows the path to freedom; Dharma, the practical methods that transform the mind; and Sangha, the supportive spiritual community that helps us along our path.
This course introduces the practice of inner refuge and shows how these three sources of guidance can become a powerful foundation of confidence, clarity and peace within your own life.
This course teaches meditations that help you to:
Understand the meaning of refuge in Buddhist practice
Develop a stable inner source of confidence and peace
Learn how spiritual practice can support you in daily life
Discover how turning inward to wisdom and meditation can become your most reliable protection and source of happiness.

Our courses have three parts:
Guided meditation
Every course includes a chance to practise meditation. No prior experience is necessary and all the meditations are guided.
Teaching
From Buddha’s teachings, these practical talks help us to solve our daily problems and find peace, happiness and, if we wish, a deeper purpose in our busy lives.
Discussion
A chance to discuss the topic of the talk and meditation with others during the break over refreshments. No one is ever ‘put on the spot’ and asked to talk in a class. The teacher will normally make time for questions, and will be happy to clarify any points during the class too.

Other than removing shoes before going in to the meditation room (they can be worn as normal elsewhere) and turning phones off during session, there are no special rules to follow. People are always very pleasantly surprised with just how informal, welcoming and down to earth Jangchub Ling is; you’ll feel right at home in no time.
